International Furniture Group

CHALLENGE.
New Chinese standards on furniture, that did not comply with the WTO, was announced. They would lead to a stop in exports of furniture to China and have a massive impact on the EU manufacturing businesses, and in particular a Six Year Plan client.
SOLUTION.
The client needed to initiate a dialogue with the Chinese administration. Six Year Plan recommended a new strategy and new tactics that would move the discussion from a political to a technical arena.
RESULT.
New engagement plan with Chinese policymakers to influence the forming of the new standards, unique political and market insights, and an enhanced local network, including government relations and key stakeholders.
Port Operator

CHALLENGE.
Port operator and port authority sought new Chinese customers, but had no formal representation in China or broad knowledge about the Chinese market.
SOLUTION.
Six Year Plan started representing port operator in China by setting up a sales office and assisting in improving sales, producing local events and establishing relations with key officials.
RESULT.
With Six Year Plan’s help, port operator built awareness in the international shipping and logistics industry in China, established a strong network with industry players and authorities and signed a number of agreements with Chinese companies and collaboration partners.

CHALLENGE.
Publishing company wanted to enter the Chinese (mainland) market, without challenging sensor/free media values. We suggested to the publishing company that they investigated the segment of children’s books.
SOLUTION.
We researched the Chinese publishing market and set up meetings with key players throughout China. Moreover, Six Year plan provided an analysis of the different options of joint venture, Chinese partner or using an agent.
RESULT.
Based on Six Year Plan’s market analysis and overview, roadshow and strategy recommendation, the publishing company are currently deciding on the next steps for expanding their business into China.
International Assistive Medical Devices Manufacturer

CHALLENGE.
Healthcare and caring for relatives and children is one of the areas where the difference is largest between Chinese and western traditions and the company needed to increase their understanding of Chinese cultural, economic and healthcare conditions and adapt its business model to achieve success.
SOLUTION.
We collaborated with local a Chinese marketing insight company and through a combination of focus groups and in-depth interviews investigated target group profiles, local understanding of available products, information channels, financing, preferences, cultural aspects of disabled people in China.
RESULT.
We assisted the Swedish assistive medical device company with invaluable insights from the Chinese market including a stakeholder analysis, the prerequisites of the purchasing process for assistive medical devices and the identification of the potential areas that impact purchasing decisions.
Smart Grid

CHALLENGE.
As a part of the Sino-Swedish MoU on energy, the Swedish and Chinese businesses sectors within smartgrid technologies were to build a collaborative platform for enhanced business opportunities.
SOLUTION.
Six Year Plan as an independent adviser, conducted a pre-study to suggest a strategic plan with go-to-market activities. We also built a concept of Technical Committees to engage all stakeholders, match technologies and create business opportunities.
RESULT.
The Technical committee was successfully launched under the Sino-Swedish MOU during a Swedish delegation visit to China, led by the State Secretary. The work is on-going to identify projects that can add value to the Chinese companies by using Swedish niche technologies.
